How we create content

We use AI to research efficiently — grounded in each venue's published information, with the sources and limits stated. Here's exactly how it works.

AI-assisted, source-checked

There are 1,155 Sunshine Coast venues here, drafted by AI reading each venue's own menu, hours and description, then checked against those sources. The model never decides what's good, and never answers from memory about a venue.

What we do not do: we do not visit every venue, we do not have owner confirmation for listings unless a listing says so, and we do not present a compiled listing as a review. Where a listing has been checked in person or confirmed by the venue, it will say so with a date.

We don't invent facts

Only sourced facts get published. Hinterland closing times are the specific problem: Montville and Maleny venues often shut earlier than their listed hours suggest, and it's the most common correction we receive. Where we're not confident, we say nothing.

Sourcing & attribution

Our information comes from a mix of sources, including:

Where images or facts come from a third party, we attribute them where appropriate and link out so you can check the original.

The Spot Score, in plain language

The Sunshine Coast is sixty kilometres of separate towns, and Noosa distorts everything. Its venues attract review volume the rest of the coast can't approach, so a single ranking would read as a Noosa guide with occasional mentions of everywhere else. The Spot Score compares venues within their own stretch — Caloundra against Caloundra, hinterland against hinterland — weights complete and current details, and excludes commercial relationships entirely.

Freshness & verification

Venues change constantly, so freshness is built into our process and into the Spot Score itself — older, unverified information counts for less. We re-check listings over time and update them as sources change. Even so, please treat time-sensitive details like hours and menus as a guide and confirm with the venue before you go.

How to report an inaccuracy

Found something wrong, out of date or a venue that's closed? Please tell us via our contact form and we'll review and fix it quickly. Spotting errors helps everyone, and we're grateful for it.

What this looked like for the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is sixty kilometres of separate towns, and Noosa distorts everything. Its venues attract review volume the rest of the coast can't approach, so our first ranking read like a Noosa guide with occasional mentions of everywhere else. We now compare venues within their own stretch — Caloundra against Caloundra, Coolum against Coolum.

The hinterland runs on entirely different terms. Montville and Maleny trade on day-trip traffic, keep shorter hours, and close earlier than the coast. Hinterland closing times are the most common correction readers send us, so we check them more often than most.

A large share of this audience is travelling with children and filtering on practicalities — parking, space, early opening — before anything else. Where a venue's own material tells us those things, we keep them, because they're often what actually decides the choice.
