Eumundi Museum

Eumundi Museum explores the history of Eumundi and the surrounding region through permanent local-history displays and regularly changing temporary exhibitions. Its collections cover Kabi Kabi history, early European settlement, the timber industry, farming, health and hospitals, transport, military history, natural history and the town’s markets. The museum also holds more than 3,000 physical photographs and continues to research and share local stories.

Past temporary exhibitions have covered subjects including Ancient Mexico, anaesthetics machines, bones, bugs, the Vietnam War and the history of maps. The museum’s learning resources include town and social history material, school-visit programs and information about Eumundi’s memorial trees. Those trees, located around Memorial Drive and Gridley Street, commemorate local service personnel from both world wars and form an important part of the town’s story.

The museum is operated by the not-for-profit Eumundi and District Historical Association and is housed in an old church near the centre of Eumundi, beside a small park and opposite the Post Office. It would suit visitors interested in local history, families and school groups exploring Australia’s heritage, and anyone wanting to understand how the town developed from its Kabi Kabi connections, timber and farming industries, railway history and markets. However, Eumundi Museum is currently closed for renovations and is scheduled to remain closed until December 2026.
