The retreat is run by Russ Eudey and Robert Main, whose backgrounds span hotels, restaurants, airlines, the Royal Australian Navy and a world-class zoo. Their approach is centred on privacy, respect and meeting guests’ needs without intruding. Robert also maintains the grounds and the retreat’s tea and coffee farm, Tinbeerwah Tea Company, and the hosts are keen to share the property’s rainforest ecosystem and plantation with visitors.

The property is now largely self-sufficient, using rainwater and solar power, with LPG backup power for outages. Drinking water is triple-filtered rainwater, with bottled water available on request.
