Why it's worth checking out
Peregian Beach Community House is a not-for-profit community facility in the heart of Peregian Beach, serving as a base for activities, events and local connections. Its flexible spaces are used for events and workshops, regular or one-off room hire, health and wellbeing classes, and support for community groups. The foyer also houses the BookShelf, a community library resource accessible during the House’s opening hours.
The current building opened on Rufous Street in October 2022 as part of a precinct with 4000 square metres of greenspace, sculptured gardens, a play area, winding footpaths and car parking. The precinct is also home to the Veggie Village community garden, Peregian Beach Tennis Club and Peregian Beach Community Kindergarten, giving the area a broad community focus. The House itself is described as an eco-friendly building, continuing the sustainable design legacy of the original venue.
There is a strong local story here. The site was formerly occupied by the Peregian Beach bowling club, which opened in 1970 and closed in 2010; memorabilia from its history is displayed at the House. The original Community House, on David Low Way, won regional and state recognition for sustainable architecture before the site became part of the Peregian Beach Digital Hub. With membership, classes, workshops, a library bookshelf and links to nearby community organisations, the House suits locals looking to participate, learn, meet others or find out what is happening around Peregian Beach.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.4 from 26 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
