Love Evy

Love Evy is the colourful mixed-media art practice of Yvette, a Queensland artist whose work is available to meet and purchase at Eumundi Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Rather than presenting as a conventional gallery with stated daily hours, Love Evy connects visitors with the artist through market appearances, exhibitions, an online shop and workshops. For Sunshine Coast visitors, Eumundi is the place to see her work in person and have a chat with the person who made it.

Yvette’s paintings are built around colour, texture and eclectic compositions, with “flower jungles” forming a recurring creative idea. The work is intended to suggest a joyful, imagined place, and the artist describes painting as something that makes her happy and brings a smile to viewers. The website’s gallery includes pieces such as Harry, Venus, Angeline, Brioni, Henry, Rosey and Hope, along with original art and art prints. These named works offer a sense of a playful, character-led collection rather than a narrowly defined series.

There is a personal story behind the practice. Yvette trained and worked as a chef in Victoria, Cairns and Brisbane before studying graphic design in 2015. After continuing to search for a satisfying creative direction, she began painting in 2022 and set herself the goal of becoming a full-time artist. She now paints every day, while also remaining open to collaborations. Her love of cats and coffee is part of the personality that comes through in the story of Love Evy, though the focus remains firmly on colourful, expressive art.

For visitors who want more than a browse, Yvette teaches in-person mixed-media workshops at a light-filled studio on Bribie Island, with half-day and full-day options, and has added an online workshop through her website. That makes Love Evy suited to art buyers, curious beginners and anyone who enjoys meeting an independent artist at a local market. It also gives returning visitors a way to engage with the work at a deeper level, whether by taking home a print or original piece, joining a workshop or following the artist’s exhibitions, including the Joy Seeker exhibition held at Studio On Brunswick in Brisbane.
