Alexandria Bay Walk

Alexandria Bay Walk is a 4.2-kilometre return track through the Headland section of Noosa National Park, linking Parkedge Road in Sunshine Beach with Alexandria Bay. The route follows the same path out and back, with the Queensland Government suggesting 1–2 hours of walking time. It is a Grade 4 track, so it suits people looking for a more involved bushwalk rather than a flat, paved stroll.

The walk moves through open eucalypt woodland, sunlit heathland and sandy sections, with banksias, brush box, pink bloodwoods and sculptural pandanus palms adding variety to the landscape. Wet heathland gullies bring a different feel, with sedges, rushes and coral fern covering the lower areas. The track’s vegetation and coastal setting create changing views as it passes over sandhills and towards Alexandria Bay, where sweeping beach and a rocky headland provide a natural destination before the return journey.

Birdwatchers may want to bring binoculars, as the track offers opportunities to spot birdlife along the way. Several scenic side tracks connect with the Tanglewood Walk, while the Coastal Walk provides an option for extending the outing along more of Noosa’s rocky coastline. These links make the walk useful for visitors who want either a focused half-day experience or a longer national-park journey.

Access is available by conventional vehicle, bicycle or bus, although parking around Parkedge Road is limited and there are no bike racks. From the bus stop on Solway Drive near Surf Street, it is a 150-metre walk to the track start. The walk is open 24 hours, but visitors should check park alerts for current access and track conditions. There are no wheelchair-accessible facilities on the walk. With its coastal scenery, varied vegetation and connections to other tracks, it is a strong choice for experienced bushwalkers, solo walkers and small groups exploring the Noosa Heads and Sunshine Coast area.
